Quyllur Rit’i Exhibition.
The Lord of the Sparkling Snow. Costume with tradition and identity

Date:  27 June – 27 August 2019
Where: Casa O'Higgins (Jirón de la Unión 554, Cercado de Lima)
When:  Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

Preserving a culture and a tradition is as important as preserving nature. The Lord of Qoylluritti is a symbol that teaches us to love the mountain and glaciers.

Glacial retreat not only has an impact on the country's ecosystem, water and water systems, but can also badly affect the culture and traditions vital to the people.

The Swiss Embassy in Peru and its development cooperation agency, SDC are supporting this exhibition, as part of the Glaciers+ Project, to reaffirm its commitment to culture and the environment.

About the festival.
The festival is pre-Columbian, and is celebrated at the foot of the snowy Colque Punku peak, over 5,000 meters above sea level, in the town of Mahuayani, district of Ocongate, province of Quispicanchis, in the department of Cusco.

About 100,000 devotees come on pilgrimage to this shrine each year to renew their faith and give thanks to the great forces of the universe.

We can see them today, and acknowledge and respect them, and recognize in their garments a reflection of their devotion, ancestral knowledge and religious syncretism. Becoming aware of who we are, raising the collective feeling and thinking that will lead us to a present and future of greater and better possibilities

“Time for Action” is the motto of the 25th Conference of the Parties, to be held this year at the Bicentennial Park in Santiago de Chile.
